EXCERPTS FROM COMMITTEE MEETING: JANUARY 2010
Thu 21-Jan-2010
Meeting cancelled due to bad weather.

20 YEARS AGO:
Excerpts from Committee Meeting – January 1990.

•     The Team Harriers fishing club (based on The Harriers public house) applied for and were granted affiliation. This was a good club with many keen anglers but, sadly, now defunct.
•     The lease on the River Avon at Foxes Wood cancelled; due to difficult access and minimal use by members.
•     An increase in membership reported for the second consecutive year, with an additional 33 seniors and 52 juniors.
•     Three new club bailiffs have been appointed.
•     The Christmas match was a 300 peg sell-out (again). Jim Cook from Bristol won with 27 lbs. of bream from Newbridge.
•     The Silstar 1000 match attracted 242 competitors. The previous year’s winner – Arthur Marshall from Stroud – won again with 29 lbs. from Rotork.
•     The first fund raising tackle auction arranged for 18 January at Frys. (The old-uns will recall the auctions with fond memories; packed audiences, hundreds of lots, hard work and a great time had by all with loads of dosh in the bank for fishery development.)

40 YEARS AGO:
Excerpts from Committee Meeting – January 1970.

•     An offer has been made for the lease on two ponds at Westbury, Wiltshire.
•     Our interest has been registered with the controlling body for any available waters at the new Cotswold Water Park.
•     The “Bathampton Angler” publication discontinued due to losses being made.
•     Mechanical means of removing silt form Huntstrete Lake ruled out due to excessive cost. Enquiries about chemicals to be made.
•     Horse riders ruining the towpath on the canal.
•     Minimum keepnet sizes introduced by the River Authority.
