A nice little session, with Kevin Dicks
Sat 16-Jan-2010
Kevin Dicks of Bathampton AA tried the canal at Bathampton in front of The George pub on Saturday 16th Jan and fished from 10am to 2pm.

The canal was iced over apart from three pegs and from a fishing point of view was pretty much an ideal situation, no flow, and no boat traffic.

Kevin set up some nice light tackle to fish the pole at 5 metres. Tackle consisted of No. 4 ZIM elastic and the business end started with 0.6gm Sensas Auchy pencil float, 0.06 diameter Silstar line and then down to a size 18 B511 hook. Depthwise the rig was at dead bottom.

As is so often the case in the cold weather, the old favourite bread is one of the most attractive and readily taken baits and Kevin put this knowledge to good use.

He attracted fish into the target area with liquidised bread. Hook bait was created using a 6mm bread punch.

As can be seen from the sample photos, sport was exceptionally good and a nice net 26lb was accomplished in a short four hours.
