CLUB CARP RECORD SMASHED
Tue 25-May-2010
The Main Lake at Hunstrete has produced several thirty pound carp in recent weeks, and it is no surprise that the Bathampton A.A.’s record has been comprehensively beaten by a fish weighing 36lbs exactly.

CHRIS DEVINE, from Bristol, was the successful angler and the record was a good reward for his application and considerable skill.

He fished a 10mm ‘The One’ from Cotswold Baits popped-up an inch off the bottom and the ‘big-un’ came along at 8 o’clock in the evening.

The fish, known to club members as ‘Blush’ was, in Chris’s words, “’in cracking condition - putting up a great fight - and was well behaved on the bank”.

It was also his first 30 and an impressive personal best.

Obviously, it was an exciting time and Chris gives a special mention and a ‘big thanks ‘to the lads who helped with the care and the weighing of the fish.

The fish has to be ratified by the Management Committee and, as Chris has fulfilled all the criteria for a claim, it should be a formality.

THE HUNSTRETE FISHERY IS FOR BATHAMPTON A.A. MEMBERS ONLY AND AN ADDITIONAL SPECIAL DAY PERMIT MUST BE PURCHASED BEFORE FISHING.
