Well the weekend of the 14th June saw the 2009 Tour de Wilts take place on a fabulous day for weather. The theme this year was Rural Post Offices. Myself Russ and Andre managed 150miles and a good proportion were byways. We decided riding byway was priority over number of checkpoints visited.
It's great the way Keith organises these events, having a theme and goal always makes the planning and ride on the day so much more of a challenge; it also makes you explore parts of Wiltshire you would never have gone before and see sights like the Poppy field at Hanging Langford, so a big thanks for that.
The unofficial star of the event was George Osborn who entered on a Honda C50. George left home north of Gloucester at 4.30am and finished at 5.30pm having visited all 29 locations and having covered over 350 miles.
Our chosen charity this year was Riders for Health for whom we raised £200 By ensuring health workers have access to vehicles that never break down, Riders for Health is making sure millions of people across Africa receive regular reliable healthcare.http://www.riders.org/default.aspx
