| The Somerset crew set out today to enjoy several rights of way South of the Midsomer Norton area. Bubs ,Cheggers and the Hughes brothers made the most of the initially mild weather travelling via a number of ORPAS and Byways to Croscombe and the Pilton area.
Continuing to Bruton and then Northwards saw us take in a total of 3 fords and some previously uncharted territory in particular a fantastic section of cobbled road.
Onwards towards Batcombe provided us with a panoramic view out towards Bridgwater bay with Glastonbury Tor rising up from the Somerset levels. Having stopped for a pie and hot drink the heavens decided to open with a deluge of hailstones. Refuge was sought beneath a bridge serving the East Somerset steam railway at Cranmore.
Braving the continuing storm saw us arrive home tired , wet and looking forward to the next outing. The route was muddy and heavy going but it was completed without a puncture, snapped cable or tumble which on current form is proving somewhat unusual . All in all a great day.
